Fantasy Art on The Web

Fantasy Art is a large body of artwork.  Because what is fantasy?  Something that is not true?  Something that is fantastic?  Is it something that is not reality or somehow conjured up in someone’s mind?  All of these things can be fantasy, along with many other things.  I tend to define fantasy as beautiful women, fantastic settings, mythical creatures, and heroes.   With fantasy art being the visual depiction of those things in an artistic manner.  I can’t really tell you exactly what about the art appeal to me.  More than likely it is the feelings that are invoked by the visual.

I would say that I always have a love for beautiful women, there is nothing more pleasurable that viewing a beautiful woman.  And, I’m not talking about in a sexual way, just a pleasing way.  Women attract me as a man, and I like to look.

Fantastic settings are always awe inspiring.  Even in reality there is nothing more breathtaking that to see beautiful scenery.  In my “job” I deal with technology.  I see wires, circuits, and man made hardware.  When I am on the web I see 1’s and 0’s, and code.  That is sterile, and impersonal.  But the raw scenery of nature inspires my heart.  Anyone who can look at nature and not see the God that made us is probably blind, which is sad.  Translate reality to fantasy, and you get even more vivid depictions of a scene that is fantastic.

Mythical creatures can be terrifying, they can also be comforting.  Take the example of a Pegasus, a winged mythical beast that is also a horse.  They are majestic, and powerful.  Or maybe visualizing a griffon or any other mythical creature conceived in a mans mind, and then brought to life in an image.

Heroes have the traits that we inspire to incorporate into ourselves.  Heroes are looked to for guidance, protection, and for comfort.  A true hero is a solid pillar of all the virtues that are good.  Heroes also have flaws as do we all, and at time those flaws are overlooked because of the true heroic nature of the inner man.

On the web, there are many examples of fantasy art.  A simple entry into any search engine will bring up hundreds of fantasy art websites and fantasy artists.  Don’t be afraid to check them out.  Decide what kind of fantasy art inspires you, and keep those images around to bring a bit of joy and inspiration into your day.
